1 CSRセミナーシリーズの事業趣旨

グローバリゼーションが進行する中、企業と社会の関係も複雑化・緊密化する中で、企業の社会貢献や社会的な責任（CSR）をめぐる議論やテーマが多様化してきています。企業活動を構成し、取り巻くステークホルダーはどのように変化してきたのか、企業活動を行う上で期待されている社会貢献や社会的な責任とはどういうものか、企業はいかに戦略的にCSR活動を計画実行できるのか、どのような活動を具体的に想定するのか、持続可能な企業活動をCSR活動がいかに支えるのか、といった点をわかりやすく解説いたします。

先端的な議論や事例が豊富な英国・国際企業の状況を題材に、英国の企業関係者や有識者のレクチャーと質疑応答セッションを開催いたします。できるだけ聴衆と講師陣とのインターアクションを重視したワークショップ的なセミナーのシリーズを試みます。

概要：企業の社会貢献・CSR活動は、伝統的な寄付・慈善活動に始まり、より戦略的な投資へとその概念を拡大させてきています。第1回目のセミナーでは、まずCSRの概念や活動内容の変化を概観するとともに、CSR活動に積極的なBoots社のBlythe氏が具体的な活動事例の報告を行います。

2 今後のセミナーシリーズの予定

およそ2か月毎に、来年春までの期間、以下のテーマ案にて、英国企業・関連業界関係者や有識者を講師としてお招きし、参加聴衆との質疑応答や意見交換を行います。先端的な議論や事例が豊富な英国・国際企業の状況を題材に、英国の企業関係者や有識者のレクチャーと質疑応答セッションを開催いたします。できるだけ聴衆と講師陣とのインターアクションを重視したワークショップ的なセミナーシリーズ化を試みます。

・ 第3回目「CSRと企業ガバナンスとの関係をどう考えるか」
講師：英国企業社会関係団体役員

・ 第4回目「ビジネスとCSR企業責務とのバランスをどう考えるか（職場環境、資源環境など）」

・ 第5回目：「社会的企業という新しいビジネス、社会公益に貢献するビジネスとは―これを支える投資家、受益者は誰か」

なお、企業関係者等シリーズ参加の要望、関心に応じて、英国企業・団体への実施訪問を検討します。The Japan Foundation London and Links Japan would like to announce the launch of a seminar series on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which will inform Japanese and other interested corporate sector professionals and researches about recent CSR thinking and trend in the UK. Key speakers involved with devising, implementing, measuring, and researching corporate community social investment strategy will introduce and discuss good practice and innovation in the sector.

Previous surveys by the Japan Foundation have documented the philanthropic activities of Japanese companies through the world, and these have included a report, produced with the help of Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry the UK, focusing on the UK, France and Germany. This series aims to build on previous and continuing achievement in the area of philanthropic and charitable contributions by exploring new thinking in the corporate social responsibility.

This series is led by Phillida Purvis MBE, who is Founder and Director of Links Japan, which was established in 1998 to promote sharing between civil society organisations in the EU and Japan. Having been a speaker at its first event, Takeshi Shimotaya, founder and Managing Director of Sustainavision Ltd, will also take the role of Series Advisor whilst helping to facilitate the events for Japanese participants.

This seminar will introduce the background to Corporate Social Responsibility in the UK and, through the story of one of this country’s most  famous  companies,  explain  why  and  how corporate  good  practice  has  changed  from  being  a  reactive  response  into  a  strategic investment for sustainable business success. The speakers will first look back at the origins of CSR and question the extent to which, in its current form, it can genuinely help companies, across the board, realize their corporate strategic objectives. This seminar is the inaugural event in a new series which will inform Japanese and other interested corporate sector professionals
and researchers about recent CSR thinking and trends in the UK.
