2014年10月29日・30日ロンドンで開催された「How business can tackle deforestation」会議に参加Participated in “How business can tackle deforestation” Conference in London organised by Innovation Forum

サステイナビジョン代表取締役下田屋が、2014 年10月28日～29日に英国ロンドンで開催された「How business can tackle deforestation」会議に参加いたしました。[nivo_slider width=”640″ height=”400″ link=”none” speed=”600″ delay=”3000″ navigation=”1″ bullets=”1″ pauseonhover=”0″ effect=”fade”]Mr Takeshi Shimotaya, Managing Director of Sustainavision, participated in “How business can tackle deforestation”, which was held in London on 29th and 30th of October 2014 organised by Innovation Forum.
この会議はInnovation Forumの主催で、世界各地から約100人の国連UNDP・UNEP、企業のVP・CSO・CSR/サステナビリティ部長/担当者・調達部長/担当者・コミュニケーション担当者、法律専門家、アナリスト、投資家、コンサルタント、国際NGO（気候変動・森林破壊・パーム油・食糧・農業）、大学関係者が参加。
この場では、企業が政策とトレンドを理解し、どのように効果的にNGOとコラボレーションをして森林破壊・気候変動・人権侵害を食い止めることができるのかについて、2日間の非常に積極的な議論がなされていました。この会議では、企業とNGOが登壇し、それぞれの立場で活動や意見を発信しており、企業側の取り組みに対し、NGOが会場から質問を浴びせ、企業の考え方や現状の取り組みについての不明な点などを確認するとともに、企業にとっては今後の取り組みを考える良い機会になり活発な意見交換の場になっていることを感じました。また、NGO側としては、森林破壊の現状やそれに関わる人権侵害についての報告や、持続可能なパーム油の認証であるRSPOについては、認証機関としての取り組みがまだまだで、機能させる為にどのようにしていったら良いのか、またRSPOやFSCなどの認証品を使用するのみならず、すべて認証品を使用できない場合には、企業努力としてその追跡や問題のないことを確認することの意味などの議論がなされました。この会議ではまた国連気候サミットで発表された「森林に関するニューヨーク宣言」についても触れられ、この宣言が実際に意味するものは何かなどの議論もなされました。

この会議を踏まえて、海外でのDeforestationに関する意識や課題への取り組みなどメディア、また、セミナーなどを通じて日本へお伝えしたいと思っております。

This conference aggressively discussed how companies understand policy and enforcement trends and how companies collaborate effectively with NGO’s to tackle deforestation, climate change, and human rights abuse. Companies and NGO’s gave speeches on their standpoint to talk about their activities and opinions, which seemed to be a great place for discussion between companies and NGO’s effectively. NGO’s gave reports about current deforestation situation and related human rights abuse, and about RSPO (certified palm oil) system does not work properly and discussed how we make it work. The conference also discussed the New York Declaration on Forests – will it mean much?
